Has anyone used Sage with the Aver Media UltraTV 300? I would like to have a dual tuner system with a PVR 150 and the UltraTV 300. After I install the card, how do I tell Sage which to use for what (Watch a show on this card and Record a show on this card). Thanks in advance!

I don't think the 300 is a hardware encoder. However if I'm wrong then it should work fine. You can't set the tuner like that, you can only set the merit. Basically you set which tuner is 1st choice and 2nd, etc.

So sage will not work with SW encoder cards? Would Installing another PVR-150 cause conflicts in using WinTV 2k?

No, it requires a hardware encoder. I'm not sure what you're asking about winTV 2k...
You won't need winTV 2k if you're using Sage. |

I use WinTV 2k for recording TV shows, and then edit out the comericals with the included software. For some reason the editing software won't edit ANYTHING I record in Sage. The MPEG2 editor says somthing to the extent of "only for use with Hauppauge prouducts" so I am assuming that there is a lock in the software to prevent non WinTV users from editing videos. So Basicly, I Use WinTV for Comercial Free DVDs and SageTV for Everything else.

Do yourself a favor and invest in one of the better MPEG editors like Womble or VideoReDo, they are FAR FAR better than nanocosmos.

I have used nanocosmos to edit Sage recordings with no problems. I think the installer will only install on a machine with a Hauppauge PVR card.

Let me correct My erlier post: It won't Edit anything I record in sage ACCURATLY. There are 30 to 50 sec gaps in all of the segments (starts 30-50 sec before or after I want it to). At first I thought it was somthing I was doing wrong, but I went through the exact same process with a sage recording and a WinTV2k recording. WinTv 2k recording was perfect, the SageTV recording had skips and gaps. I know the Original Sage file was recorded right because I would play it back with Media Player 10. This was very frustrating

well I'm not sure why that would be... But you will not get these errors running another editing software, such as videoredo... Although it's fairy expensive.
I'm sure you could get a quick answer to your question about winTV 2k and dual PVR 150s on www.shspvr.com , they are a little more versed with winTV 2k as I understand it. |

Go with either Womble or videoredo and get rid of these headaches.

Nanocosmos can only cut on I-frames, ie it's not frame accurate, it will put the edit at the closest I-frame to where you want. The other programs however, are frame accurate.
