I need help: PVR-250 records fine with WinTV2000, only snow with SageTV 2.1

I have a Hauppauge PVR-250 in a WinXP Pro SP2 box, all drivers & patches up-to-date. However, when I try recording with SageTV 2.1, all I get is snow in my output file; yet when I record with Hauppauge's WinTV2000 app, it records just fine.

I tried reinstalling SageTV several times w/o any change. I've tried the install wizard and every logical option in the detailed setup, still w/o success.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't done so already, see if the updated dll for v2.1 helps: Updated DLL for tuner related issues in SageTV v2.1

Where are you from? Have you selected the correct country, video format and input source (antenna/cable) -- each of these determines which frequencies the channel numbers refer to...

And since you have a PVR500 have you set up both tuners? (I'm assuming it would show as 2 tuners in setup-I don't have this card. Or maybe I'm way off here.)

I saw that updated dll in a few other forum threads, but thought it pertained to remote usage, so I'll give it a try tonight and see what pops.

nielm: I selected 'cable' and the correct provider matching my cable company (Comcast, btw), and I assume it's correct because the channel line-up matched my listings. Do I need to set something else up as well? I verified that I'm set to NTSC as I believe that's what the US uses, correct?

gplasky: The box in my sig is my 'main' dev machine, but the one I've got the problem atm is my living room computer: WinXP Pro SP2, AMD 1.4 Ghz, GeForce 5500-based video, PVR-250, SageTV 2.1. When I get that one working, the dev box gets the PVR-500MCE and SageTV 2.1 installed. (I'm a PC game dev, so guess which machine has all the horsepower & storage space? )

Everyone, thx so far for the help. I wish Asus were this helpful with their support. o.O

Update: The new dll did the trick. I didn't see any installation instructions which sure would've helped, but I'm a Windows system developer and so knew to kill the SageTV service to unlock the dll already in-use.

Thx for the tip...one more happy customer!
