As far as I know, DirMon can not be run as a service. If you do try to run it as a service, make sure that it runs as a user, not local machine. The processors it runs, may or may not be able to run without being logged in due to individual limitations of the processor.

(See the SA thread for a post about running SA from a service)

Finally! A new version! This is only a temporary band-aid until I get SA to where I'm happy. To get DirMon to run as a service requires a complete rewrite, so I'm not too worried about minor bugs for now.

0.2.4 - 3 September 2005
- Improved how DirMon determines if a processor is still running.
- Added option to process subdirectories.

Enjoy,
Jere

Cant get dirmon to work

I have dirmon installed and it is processing the comskip.exe file in my sagetv directory on folders that I have designated. Manual commercial detection seems to work fine from cayars and sagemc. Any ideas on why dirmon is not working for me? I am also using the latest version......

Is DirMon up and running? What does the log window say? Can you attach your dirmon settings file?

You don't have any triggers set. Take a look here: http://www.dragonglobal.org/forums/showthread.php?t=111.

You need to add txt to the first "Does not exist" block.

Jere.

What do I need to do to save a log file in DirMon? I see there is an option for it, but not sure where it gets stored.

I have noticed that I am still not getting live commercial detection during the recording of a show. I looked at this last night, while a 1 hour show was recording. Over the network, from another PC, I looked into the SageTV video folder, and saw the show that was being recorded. After 30 minutes into the show, a .txt file had still not shown up. It wasn't until a couple minutes after the recording ended, that a .txt file finally showed up.

I'm planning on posting some screen captures of my settings, because it's almost easier than typing them all out. I may not have time tonight, but we'll see.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. (Oh, you need to update the thread subject to the new version of DirMon, BTW.)

@geogecko: Can you zip up and post your dirmon.ini file?

DirMon isn't running ShowAnalyzer. At all.

You have the same problem as BBCritical in post #145. The solution is in post #146.

Darn it. Must have missed that little item when looking at those screen shots (I posted over there, if you noticed).

I'll add that to the triggers section, and see what happens. Then it's on to find out why the STV I'm using isn't updating the .txt file...

Thanks for looking at my settings for me, again.

Jere Jones,

Does .0.2.4 work with UNC paths? It seems to have stopped working for me. The log just shows:

Sat Sep 24 14:19:29 2005: Checking directories...
Sat Sep 24 14:19:29 2005: Checking "\\dim\e\Data"
Sat Sep 24 14:19:29 2005: Nothing to do... sleeping now...

Even though there are things to do and my triggers/procs are set up properly. If I downgrade to 0.2.3 it works fine. Here is my INI.

Thanks!

However, since you asked. I posted a new version that fixes this. You can find the download link here.

Enjoy,
Jere

DirMon 0.2.5 only process 1 file

DirMon 0.2.5 only processes one file.

Sun Sep 25 20:48:07 2005: Checking directories...
Sun Sep 25 20:48:07 2005: Checking "D:\Video"
Sun Sep 25 20:48:07 2005: Checking for orphan targets.
Ensuring D:/Video/TheGreatNorthfieldMinnesotaRaid-2914039-0.mpg still exists.
Verifying the that D:/Video/TheGreatNorthfieldMinnesotaRaid-2914039-0.mpg should still be processed.
Sun Sep 25 20:48:12 2005: Attempting to execute the following command:
"C:\Program Files\Dragon Global\ShowAnalyzer\ShowAnalyzer.exe" D:/Video/TheGreatNorthfieldMinnesotaRaid-2914039-0.mpg
Sun Sep 25 20:48:12 2005: Waiting for processor to finish.

After Show Analyzer is done, DirMon does not process another file.

Here is the text file that is produced by Show Analyzer:

FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE
------------------------
18934 19220
152447 164451

Is there a configuration change needed to process additional files?

Does the "Waiting for processor to finish" ever go away or is it the last log entry?

Are you running Windows 2000?

DirMon 0.2.5 only process 1 file

I am using Windows 2000 Professional, SP4.

"Waiting for processor to finish" is the last line. Show Analyzer is done and never processes another file. If I select "Stop Processing" and "Start Processing", it will process another file, and end with "Waiting for processor to finish".
