sageTV sucks, can't play any videos from library, get error (-10)
i feel like i'm taking crazy pills!
i have all codecs (xvid, divx and so on) installed correctly, and all my files playback without any problems in windows media player. but sageTV doesn't wanna play them, i get the error: "There was an error playing the file: selection of: ERROR (-10): No encoders can tune the selected station" what kind of a moron software is this? this is no station, it's a movie i wanna play! fortunately i am still using the demo 2.1.10, but i was so close to buying it! i have a pvr 150 installed on a brand new system, with all of the latest drivers and all required codecs. since this error is fixed in the latest betas, there should be a bugfix to this! i'm not the only one experiencing this... sageTV is a hassle, if you're using a pvr 150. solution to this? btw: live tv works fine. thanks, simi Last edited by simisimisimi; 03-03-2005 at 03:02 PM. |

I had a similar problem tha sageTV support solved with this:
2. Have you used different Audio/Video Decoders? For the Video Decoder you can try using the InterVideo NonCSS Decoder and for audio you can select the MPEG Audio Decoder. Also try using a different Video Renderer. You can select Default and see if that helps. Whenever you make a change to your Video/Audio decoders and your Video Renderer you should click on Reload Media Player under the Video tab or if that option is not there then click on a live TV show. If using the beta then just select the SageTV decoders for both audio and video. 3. You can't use both programs (WinTV & SageTV) at the same time. |

thanks for replying,
i have tried everything now and nothing worked. i spent so much time trying to get sageTV to work. the first issue was the pvr 150 pal issue, the second one was the 45 button remote not being pre-configured for sageTV (even though it's sold bundled with sageTV and pvr 150) and now, the third and worst one, is this issue. isn't this incredible? this is scandalous. nothing - except of live tv - worked on sagetv for me now. and it is sold with a pvr-150, that's got issues, and a remote that doesn't work. but the worst thing is, that i can't use my media library with many nice divx and xvids. nothing but issues, and i'm so tired of it. i wouldn't complain if i owned a unknown tv-tuner of some unknown brand. but this is ridiculous. and of course, software of this kind should support divx and xvid. again: i installed this on a brand-new computer, and all my codecs are installed correctly, everything works fine in windows media player, but sageTV can't play avi's without errors... i used too much time, solving all the bugs, to just switch to beyond tv, but i'm definitely thinking about it. since the programming team of sage fixed this issue on the beta, shouldn't there be a fix for 2.1.10? i would be very greatful if anyone could help! ps: i am already using the intervideo noncss decoder and wanna keep using it, because i like it most. and i dont use sage at the same time as wintv, in fact, i don't use wintv at all (but maybe i should start using it again, cause sage is not able to do anything better at the moment) simi Last edited by simisimisimi; 03-03-2005 at 06:32 PM. |

If the beta solves your issues why don't you continue to use that?
You would be hard pressed to find any solution that can work with multiple different haware configurations right out of the box. Beyond TV has it's share of serious issues. |

sometimes, this seems like an open source project to me. if sage can't play divx or xvid files on my system now (which is huge problem), why should i trust them, that they're not having similar issues in the beta and in the future? but still: does anyone know a solution to this issue? i just wanna play my xvids... thanks simon Last edited by simisimisimi; 03-03-2005 at 06:44 PM. |
