SageTV listening on ports 7818,42024??
Any reason why (and any way to stop) SageTV from listening on ports 7818 and 42024?
In SageTV setup, I have server set to "Disabled" which I would think would stop that? When I 'close file' for my current viewing of live tv, this activity seems to stop. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks, Tom Sage v2.1.10 Hauppauge 350 WinXP SP2 |

answering my own question?
Okay, now I'm thinking this is because I am running SageTV in service mode, and these are the ports used to communicate between the service and the player.
Feel free to confirm or deny.... Thanks, Tom |

Next question:
I have now chosen "Close File" and put SageTV (player) to sleep. Nothing is being recorded. I still see activity on these ports by the sage player which doesn't make sense to me any more since there is no reason for communication between the service and the player. Thoughts? Tom |

Not sure about 7818, but I'm pretty sure the other is the Client/Server communication port. And as you noted, that's how service mode works. As for when it's in Sleep, it's not totally off, it continues processing and stuff. If you really want the communcation to stop, you can exit SageTV and your recordings will still happen since you're in service mode.
Of course, I must ask, why do you care if it's communicating, it's going to localhost anyway. |

Well, it's not so much that I really care, it's just a bit unnerving to see this 'network activity' (as shown by zonealarm). Obviously given that it is localhost it isn't a big deal.
Thanks for your reply. Tom |
