Suggestion

Hi SageTV team!
I'd like to suggest a feature that will enhance user
experience and is easy (I hope) to implement.
When I go through TV guide to manually schedule a recording
I often have to kick out some already scheduled recording because
of a conflict. But many programs have additional airings and
SageTV can try to re-arrange entire schedule by selecting one or more of those
re-runs. If that is not possible, instead of offering to cancel a program
that immediately conflicts with the new recording, SageTV can offer a list of alternative programs to cancel. And as a last resort, direct conflict has to be
resolved.
There's no intelligence required, just a plain logic.
What do you think?
Thanks,
me.

Non-manual recordings are already scheduled in a way to minimize or eliminate conflicts. Manual recordings, however, tell SageTV that you want _that_ specific airing recorded and are not rescheduled. I suppose it might be nice to have those rescheduled also, but I guess Frey designed manually defined recordings to be something that SageTV won't automatically mess with. (I have no idea if they plan to change that.) If you set your often-watched shows as favorites, they will get scheduled automatically for whatever airing will minimize any conflicts. Sometimes, I'll add a favorite for a single show that it is aired multiple times, instead of setting a manual recording for it, just to take advantage of that scheduling process.

My whole point is that I don't care which of the multiple airings
of a program gets recorded, so I would not consider
that kind of rescheduling as messing with my manual recordings.
Thanks for the tip about adding a show to favorite list - I'll try that.
