Mouse Hiding?

I noticed that sometimes the mouse curser hides after a few seconds and other times it doesn't. I then move it to the bottom of the screen, making it almost unnoticable. Is there anything I can do to improve having it hide after a few seconds?

Mike

What I've learned is when the mouse shows up for whatever reason, I click the left mouse button which brings up the "info" screen... after that, when the info screen hides itself, it takes the mouse with it...

never tried this: it also might work to hit the button on your remote tied to the "info" command twice... this way it quickly shows/hides the info screen taking the mouse away with it...

I use a handy little utility called mousemove.exe
It is in my startup and moves the mouse off the screen to the bottom right corner of the screen every time windows starts.

Wow that mousemove looks pretty neat. Opus should put that in the list of utilities.

let me recommend reverson1's excellent mouse & taskbar hider. i'm not sure where @ meedio it's hosted, but i've downloaded it from the meedio forums several times.

it has command line commands for show/hide mouse and the same for taskbar.

having the taskbar gone always seems to clear up some of my focus issues, too.

here i found the link. i've been using this small .exe for over a year..

also, he released a taskbar hider: (i don't use this one)

Just curious. Is this mouse issue a bug? Because this happens to me also...

I just move the mouse past the far right of the full screen picture and the pointer goes off the edge of the screen.

I have the OSD set to autohide. If the mouse pointer shows up, I just press Play. OSD shows up and then autohides taking the mouse pointer with it.

Heya,

I just move the mouse to the bottom right corner so its not seen. Its annoying but I'd rather do that vs. install some software that consumes resources for something as trivial as this.

Enjoy,
RedR

i normally would agree w/ you redr, but in this case the reverson1 program is so minimal, imo.

Thought I was one of few having this issue and was related to using Gyration KB and mouse but I now see is prevalent behavior. If the mouse pointer can autohide once, why not all the time w/o helper applets or w/o having to cycle info screen or whatever?

Frequently I put the mouse away in its charger only to have to do an "about face" and move the mouse off screen at the prompting of my better half.

I have found the selecting the info screen and waiting for it to auto hide works.
So I set the * button on my remote to toggle the info screen. It has been working for a few days now.
Thanks Everybody

I find it annoying, as it seems to re-appear between shows when watching Live TV. If the mouse pointer is gone, when it transitions to a new show, the pointer shows back up again, and you have to press back, then play or something to make it go away.

Is there something that can be fixed in the beta version of sage 3?

it's been a common problem as long as *I* have been here which admittedly hasn't been TOO awful long.

The worst part is that it's not easily reproducable. It will do it once and not again. Or it will do it all the time... or it might do it for a week and then go away for a month before reoccurring.

I consider it a bug and an entirely avoidable one at that. One call to myframe.SetCursor(null) before playing a file or after a few seconds of inactivity... Then on the mouse move event use myframe.SetCursor(new Cursor(Cursor.DEFAULT_CURSOR))

It's not rocket science, but it's a bug that has plagued sage for quite a while.

That's definitely a nice little app to use as a workaround. For me it doesn't happen often enough for me to worry about it (lately anyway), and when it does I have my gyration mouse sitting right next to me so it's easy enough to just twitch my wrist and it goes away. But it should still be adressed in the program itself.

I've found that the only time I get the mouse reappearing is when DirMon is processing a new show... Seems that the focus shifts from Sage for just a moment, but then the mouse auto-hides again. So it may not actually be a bug in Sage itself.
