Update: After reloading the stvi again (for the 4th time), it works. Weird, but I'm not complaining. Thanks so much!

Yep! If you download the TweakUI Powertoy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

You can use this utility to turn off Windows Balloon Tips. You'll find it under the Taskbar and Start Menu section, just uncheck "Enable balloon tips"

Then set the YAC preferences to "Use Windows Ballon to Show Caller ID Info" - voila, no more popup!

Yac pops up on PC but not on TV

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have the Yac working on my PC and when a call comes in Yac displays the information in windows and then SageTV displays the popup on sage that is running on my PC, however, the pop up is not shown on my Television which is where we generally watch our recorded shows. I am using SVideo out from my Nvidia 6600GT video card. Do I have a setting wrong in my video card drivers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

Make the TV your primary display.

OK, I know this thread is for land line telephone service connected through a modem which uses certain software to capture the caller id info and send a message to this import file.

I have not installed this setup for a couple of reasons.
1) The only modem I have around is ISA and is about 15 years old.
2) Nobody ever calls the house phone accept the blood bank and the figher fighters's charity people.
3) I end up using my cell because it has free long distance.

My cell phone does however, have bluetooth, and I even have a little bluetooth dongle for the PC. I don't know how it could be done but wouldn't it be possible to have a callerID popup on Sage from a bluetooth handset?

That would be SWEEEEET. Multiple profiles for the wife's phone etc.

this might be a little wierd though, as you would only want the callerID data transfered to the computer and not the call, I don't know if you can get the caller ID info with out using the headset profile, which would imply that you wanted to use the computer to answer the call.

I'm not a bluetooth expert so I don't know. But I want this funtion.

Actually, being notified of a call via email would be nice also.

There are two ways I found to make this work:

1- http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/sh...ghlight=yacmon

2- http://www.devx.com/Java/Article/28249/

Anyone know if this will work with multiple Media Extender MVPs? I am using Sage's MVP support...not Matt's. Very cool import! Thanks!

I found another item that might be of interest.

The thread is here:

http://www.thegreenbutton.com/commun...13106#bm157517

I'm currently using InstallYacService and love it so far. No need to include yac in the startup group. I will be installing YacClientListener on the balance of the PC's on the network soon.

First off, I'm new to SageTV so pardon my inexperience. I've searched the forums repeatedly and read several threads looking for an answer to my question, and as of yet I have found no answer. I am a former Windows Media Center user. I have YAC server running on my personal PC and I had YAC listener running on my Media Center box with a Media Center plugin that would display YAC info in a popup. I'd love to have that ability in SageTV and it seems that this mod does exactly what I'm looking for. The only problem is that I am currently using mlbdudes' SageMC STV in an attempt to make the transition from Windows Media Center as easy for my wife and kids as possible. I have downloaded the 1.5 version of nielms' info pop module and extracted it to the Sage installation directory as instructed. However, when I go to Settings > Detailed Setup > Advanced > Import SageTV Application Package (.STV File) it seems to be looking for an .xml file rather than an .stv file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I should add that I have imported the .stvi the the MC STV via Studio and saved it as a new STV, and while it seemed to work ok, after exiting SageTV and going back in it ceases to function.

Edit2: After further tinkering I have gotten it to work on my PC which also happens to be the YAC server. The YAC Listener on the TV PC is working as I can see the caller ID info if I'm at the desktop in Windows, but in Sage, nada. I've even gone so far as to copy the STVs from here to there and still nothing happens in Sage when a call comes in.

I had some problems getting it to work with FSE enabled. Then magically it started to work and has worked fine ever since. I think I had to reimport a couple of times and it took several reboots, but that doesn't seem to be the norm.

I am not sure about this at all, but I don't think you will able to have two listeners on the same machine. It sounds like you have a YAC listener on the same box as sage and want sage (nielm's plugin) to be a listener too. Try disabling the other listener.

Good Luck.

I renamed the ext from .stvi to .xml and it allowed me to import it. I am running the latest dev build of SageMC. Caller ID pops up just fine when calls come in. I am running my YAC server on a different PC on the network.

I will note that the callerid preferences do not display correctly as they do not have a background. They blend in with the detailed settings screen when you try to change them. If you look very closely, you can change them if needed.

Bingo! I was under the impression that nielm's plugin required the YAC listener to be running, I didn't realize that it replaces the YAC listener. Once I disabled the YAC listener it started working fine. Thank you!

I'm also wondering if the plugin works with MVPs using Sage's built-in MVP support. I have my router assigning static IPs to the MVPs. I can import the plugin, configure it to receive from any host, but nothing ever gets displayed. On the YAC server I entered the IPs of the MVPs as well as the Sage server in the Listeners window but I never get anything. It worked fine back in the day when I used full client PCs.

for mvp's, see here -- each MVP has to use a different port, and you need to run something to send a message to each port (such as the tester on the wiki)
