I am working on a Category view of the My Videos menu. I think it would be nice to have Genre icons show up for the theme. Here is a sample of what I am talking about.

Can anyone find or come up with some better and more complete images? PNG transparent ones are the best.

mlb - what kind of icons would you like. text of each genre, or images describing the genre?

I am open to any creative input. I think for simplicity and readibility maybe we start with text?

What version of the STV are you using? If the latest, are you using Sage 3.x? What are you Video Menu options from Detailed Setup\Multimedia?

New beta is out - v5.
New Information menu for Recorded TV.
Improved meta-information options in My Videos - auto load, bulk load, etc.
New Category view for My Videos. Note you must have good imported meta-information for anything to show up here.
Added more info to the OSD during TV playback.
Changed mini-guide behavior to alwasy come up regardless if the show is live or not.

Most changed are in My Videos so test that one well. There could be things working odd in there.

Hi mlb,

Just loaded the latest STV (v5).
When I highlight a DVD in 'My Videos', I don't seem to get the DVD’s title as the information about the DVD at the top of the screen. I now get who the director and writer was (which also creates all kinds of overlapping at the top of the screen). Another reprocussion of this is that the new title (director, writer etc.) shrinks to such a size to fit it all in underneath the DVD pack shot you can't read what it says.

Just been playing a little more.

It seems that the data that I had downloded from IMDB in the previouse STV for all my DVD's is not displaying properly. If I search again for the movie (IMDB) and save the data, it displays properly.

Another couple of things.

When I search for a film using the IMDB search, I seem to be able to view other information such as 'trivia', 'locations' and so on. This information does not seem to save when I hit the 'save' button. It only seems to save the main 'blurb'.

Also, when viewing 'trivia', you can't scroll down the information on the right hand side of the screen.

I am loving the STV by the way. I hope I am not coming across as moaning!!

If you loaded meta-data from a previous version you will want to reload all again. Only a few fields from IMDB can be saved as the SageTV DB does not have placeholders for all of it.

Using the previous build, when I import data from DVDprofiler, the folder seems to move to the My Video's screen. This is fine if all you have is DVD's in the My videos section but I have different folders for old cartoons, music vids.... and now my DVD's get mixed amongst these folders. Basically, I had a folder with DVD's---i could go into that folder and see all the DVD cover art. Now, once I import that it takes the link out of the DVD folder and into the main My Video's screen. Is this what is supposed to happen and if not, is it the same in the new build?
Thanks
JUC

Does this STV support reading of live processed comskip files? I understand that LaurenGlens code will reread the text file every 60sec so that if the file is being processed it will update the commercial marking. If it doesn't, is there a way to import her code into this STV, or any plans to integrate it? Thanks.

This build will not change your file system category structure.

I doubt it. I don't use Comskip. Once this is release though we can ask ToxMox to update it for this since he added the Comskip support as it is now.

However once imported, they are no longer sorted/grouped by the folder structure on disc (seems to be a side-effect of importing).

Right--so how are they then sorted? Seems like if you only have DVD's in the My video's section it is not a problem. But--what if you want different folders with different items in there--many without metadata such as music vids, old divx files or random things/home movies....they all get jumbled together so you will effectivly have one big list of all your imported videos--DVD's next to music vids next to old cartoons. Am i misunderstanding something or is this just a limitation at this point that can be addressed down the road?
JUC

edit: or is there a way to create a new folder structure within sage?

The importing of the meta-data should not affect your folder structure presentation at all. If it does let me know.

If you view by category then you will only see your categories.
