New Hauppuage Remote Malfunctioning (I think)

BACKGROUND:
One week ago I purchased the SageTV/WinTV-PVR-350/New Hauppauge Remote bundle from PC Alchemy. The product is working just fine; however, the navigation buttons on the new Hauppauge Remote (up, down, left, right, OK) do not work. Therefore, when using SageTV, I can see the menus on the TV but cannot navigate them using the Remote (the Remote's other functions - such as play, pause, skip and replay - function normally).

TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED THUS FAR:
Even though the Remote batteries tested good, I replaced the batteries.

I have removed and re-installed both WinTV and SageTV software. I have also removed and reinstalled the Remote software (to include installing IR remote version 2.45 from the Hauppauge website for the new Remote).

I have allowed the PVR to cool down overnight to ensure there is no thermal problem. The Remote problem still persists with a cold start.

I have used an infrared sensor with the Remote to verify it is emitting an infrared signal for all buttons, including the ones that do not function; however, this does not verify the emitted signals for the non-functioning buttons are correct.

I have also used the SageTV->Setup->Detailed Setup->Commands->Show SageTV Commands linked to infrared/keystroke screen. For some reason none of the Remote commands (even the ones that work) show any result on the screen.

Curiously, I have also discovered that the Remote buttons for Skip and Replay will navigate the SageTV menusleft and right respectively, but no buttons will move up or down.


At this point I am not sure where the fault lies. Any recommendations?
