RadioShack A/V Signal Sender/Receiver
I've had Sage TV installed for a few weeks now and love it. I currently watch shows on my PC, but would love to be able to watch shows on a TV in a different room. I don't want to buy a second computer to use in the other room, though.
My question is, has anybody here tried the RadioShack Audio/Video Signal Sender/Receiver? Link I know somebody that uses it to listen to MP3s on their stereo. It works great, but I don't know anybody that's used it to broadcast video (or used a remote with it). One of the drawbacks in using this is the fact that your PC's audio/video will be running in the room of your PC (TV will be displayed on your PC, and nobody else would be able to use the PC while you watch Sage). Any thoughts? Is there another method to accomplish what I'd like to do? Thanks! |

If you have Cat5 cable running to the other room you can use the MPV plugin with a client license on your sageserver and get amost full functionality of Sage in the other room.

Ouch! $99 is a bit steep for the limited functionality that the Rat Shack device has. If at all possible, find a way to route Cat5 cable to wherever you want to run Sage and get a Hauppauge Media MPV (just like JUC recommended). With the exception of DVD playback you get ALL of SageTV's functionality just like you had another PC running Sage.
If you do some online shopping, the MPV can be had for as little as $70. -PGPfan |

I have one. I use it for my Live TV channel surfing (don't like the PVR delay and like the reminders on the cable box) but that is all it is really good for. You can see a marked degradation in picture quality even on SDTV so once I find what I want to watch or record I use my MVP client and SageTV.
