Cant disable autostart?

HI guys, I have a sage box running 2.2.6 and Cayars 17. I went into the detailed setup, advanced and turned off the Autostart option and rebooted. Sage auto started! I checked the settings and it does say "no" I went into msconfig...no registry entry for sage and the sage service is "stopped" set for "manual" (sage was running). What the heck? How do I get sage to stop autoloading?

thanks!

lol, that's funny -- I can't enable autostart on mine. I have autostart set to fullscreen on my client (2.2.7/cayars 17, fresh box rebuild with win2k -- tried without cayars as well) and it won't start on windows start. I finally just created a shortcut to sage in the startup folder, then exited out of sage while it was fullscreen to get around it...

Anyway, take a look to see if you have a sage shortcut in your startup folder. If you do, get rid of it.

There's a line in the sage.properties file that you might have to edit.

But I'm not at home to be able to take a look and give you the exact line.

Shutdown sage and the service completely, then open the file in notepad and look for 'autostart' or something true, or false. Make sure it's set to false.

For some reason, some times the STV can't make the change, and you have to do it manually. But it's really important that neither SageTV or the sage service are running, or it won't take.

Both of you should try this.

If no one has posted the exact line by the time I get home, I'll post it for you. but for now, just take a look in there and see what you can find. BE CAREFULL THOUGH! You can really mess Sage up if you start adding extra line breaks and characters. Don't change settings if you don't know what they do.

I was having trouble disabling autostart too. What worked for me was asfter changing it in the settings, coming out of fullscreen to windowed, then closing with the x. It's worked as set ever since.

What finally made it work?

I doubt it's a Cayars bug, but more likely some kind of conflict within SageTV inself, interfacing with the Cayars STV.

You may need to exit SageTV (as Wheemer said he did) & restart it w/o rebooting, or perhaps at least wait for it to update the properties file before rebooting. I get the feeling that sometimes things don't get saved in the properties file if you reboot w/o closing SageTV first.

I found even when closing the fullscreen it did not get saved. It had to be the windowed mode that was closed to take effect.

well the procedure I followed was as follows:

very first time - exit from full screen, go to windows.
change setting
close SageTV
rebooted

that failed, so I went back into Sage
checked setting - it claimed off..so I killed sage
then ran msconfig trying to see what the heck was going on.
couldnt find anything..
turned sage on again to see if that changed the status of the sage service. saw that it hadnt, was really confused. closed sage. rebooted.

sage came up again. closed it. did work on the machine, something else rebooted it.

diitto again

rebooted - no more Sage autostarting. absolutely *no* clue why it worked now or didn't work earlier.
