DVD playback with grey borders
When playing back a DVD out TVOUT using SageTV, my friends system displays grey borders above and below the picture (letterbox). I expect the boarders to be there because of the aspect ratio difference.
At first thought, I figured he had his brightness too high. Then on several dark scenes in the movie, there were several areas of black that were much blacker than the letterbox borders. He is using Sage 2.2.7 with nVidia decoders. He also tried the Sage Decoders and the PowerDVD/ATI decoders with the same results. Anyone seen this or know how to solve it? I tried most everything. thanks. |

Some tvs allow you to control the colour of the letterbox border. Have you check your tv setup? Does the tv do the same thing with a setup DVD player?

There is a properry (ui/show_video_background_item=true) that will enable an item in Detailed Setup -> Video where you can change the background color that is shown outside the video area. I thought this defaulted to black, though, so maybe it isn't what is affecting this situation.
