Two questions:
1.) I installed the trial software and when I go to view Live TV the initial screen shows a few frames and then locks up. The Adaptec VideOH unit is their USB 2.0 version and it worked fine with Snapstreams BeyondTV and WinDVR. It has the latest drivers. If I close SageTV at this point I can then start up WinDVR and it works without rebooting or reseting the VideOH!. Does anyone have a suggestion for what I should do to get it working properly? 2.) I also have an RCA Lyra AV 2780. I would like to record programs and then copy them directly to the Lyra without messing around with additional steps to convert the video file. I am moving away from BeyondTV because this isn't possible with that program. Is it possible to set SageTV up to record a movie/tv show etc in a format that can be then copied to my Lyra without having to run a 3rd party converter on it? thank you for any advice you may have... |

hmm, can't help much but I went onto Sage's supported hardware page and noticed that they do not list the USB version of Adaptec Videoh, only the PCI version as being supported. Not sure if that matter's though.

What formats does the Lyra support?
Sage only supports recording to formats generated by capture cards with hardware encoding -- ie Mpeg2 for the VideOh and Hauppauge PVR-x50 cards, and both Mpeg2 and DivX for the Plextor ConvertX...

Formats available to a Lyra RD2780
These are the formats that are listed in the specs for the RCA RD2780:
MPEG-4/MPEG-1/JPEG/mp3/mp3PROš^ Ready/WMA RCA's spec sheet I am not an expert in this field by a long shot but I am trying to learn. Also, I am still unable to get SageTV work. It looks like everything works except the fact that a couple seconds after I select live TV the screen rate drops to 1 frame a minute and my whole system slows to a crawl. This does not happen when I run WinDVR or BeyondTV. I thought perhaps BeyondTV was conflicting with SageTV so I deinstalled BeyondTV. This made no difference. |

First thing to do it narrow down whether it is a recording or playback problem:
Can you record something without playing it back (select it to be recorded in the guide)? Can you playback this file (or other MPG files)? in Sage (for other files you need to add a library Import direcory in detailed setup/general) If you only get problems in playback, then what Renderer and Video decoder do you have setup in detailed info/video? Try a different renderer (Overlay or Default: VMR-9 can be very CPU intensive), and/or a different Mpeg-2 video decoder. Re: the lyra... That spec sheet was not very clear! If it only supports MPEG-4 (Divx/Xvid) in an AVI container, then if you only have a VideoOH, you will need to recompress the recorded MPEG-2 files (which Sage does not do itself)... There are a few devices (such as the Plextor Convert/X) that Sage can use which hardware-encode directly to DivX, the resulting files may be useable on the lyra (but it may need some tweaking in the recording parameters to get a reasonable filesize/resolution)
