Actisys IR200L or Serial Control for DirecTv
I have DirecTV and a Creative Labs Digital VCR card. From what I have read so far, I am having touble deciding which is best for controling my DirecTV DSS box...the Actisys IR200L or the Serial Control Cable thru my low speed data port. Any suggestions on wich is the best method and the best way of using that method?
I tried using the IR Blaster that came with the Creative DVCR card, but it would only change to channels with even numbers in them and only once in a while to channels with odd numbers in them. This is why I am looking at SageTV. Also, I been reading that several people have had trouble with sync prolems and the Creative card. Is this still a problem with SageTV and Creative card? Thanks, AJ |

Some people have gotten the DVCR card to work, however it seems to be much more error prone than a comparable Hauppauge solution. The forums are littered with folks reporting A/V sync and other issues with the DVCR.

I would recommend downloading the trial version of SageTV to see if sync is an issue for you. If it is, browse the forums to see what some of the solutions have been.
