Quick question about announcement

Quote:
A full-screen 10-foot user interface allows users to access the program guide, select programs to record, and control all other functions on their TVs from the comfort of their couch.
What does Dan mean by 10-foot? Is that a typo, or am I missing something?

That's in reference to how far one sits away from the TV set and the interface and font sizes being designed for that distance. As opposed to be designed for a PC monitor. Most PVR programs refer to it as the "10 foot interface" I know MCE does.

10-foot interface is kind of a tech definition of a PVR Interface that is usable from 10 feet away from the screen. ie. still being able to see everything on the menus etc and use with a remote.

It's not about the size of your screen, it's the number of vertical lines you can display on it.... what's that you say? Only 480? You don't have 576? Never mind, i'm sure it looks very nice.

*snicker*

Nick.

*mopes off to catch up on the news on his lowly 42"*
