Duplicated Episodes
My dad and I have been playing around with Sage for about 2 months now. We really like it, except for the fact that it seems to record duplicates of episodes. This is annoying, because we both pull episodes off the Sage box and burn them to DVD, so I don't know what he's done and he doesn't know what I've done. Is there a way to make Sage check the show, episode, and description against a database to see if it's recorded it before?

I had been of the opinion that if you made the show "watched" it wouldn't repeat the recording later but I think I was mistaken on this as well. Don't know if there's a way to stop it or not. Need Opus or Neilm or someone on this one.

It does check its own database. It is looking for shows marked "Watched".
You can get duplicates if: a) you do not set the airing to "Watched"; or b) you have bad guide data. The only way to solve (b) is to get the provider of the guide data to fix it. |

Just to expand on the 'bad guide data' that salsbst mentioned: see this FAQ entry. A unique show ID is needed to prevent multiple recordings.
