PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x0)

I've setup the trial version to test out, using my hauppauge USB2...
however, wehn i go to watch TV, I get the error:

There was a playback error in playback
sage.playbackexceptio:error(-4,0x0) there
was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.

I've tried switching renderers & overlays, but doesn't change it.

any help would be appreciated

thx
jared

Is that "USB2" a PVR-USB2, or a WinTV-USB2? The PVR-USB2 is the one that is supported for use by SageTV. The other one is a software encoder that probably won't work correctly.

If it is the PVR-USB2, double cheeck that the recordings will play OK in some other player. I was going to suggest changing the renderer to overlay or VMR9 and/or changing the decoder... but you said you already tried that. Also try disabling 3D Acceleration in Detailed Setup -> Advanced. If all else fails, see what SageTV's tech support says.

I would be interested in your answer, Jared, as I have a similar problem but with the Hauppauge PV150 MCE.

I've tried just about every setting but cannot get Sage to play the TV.

WinTV2000 and DScaler play OK.

Futher to above, I foung that uninstalling everything and only installing SageTV was OK. If I then installed SageTVRecorder, I got the error back again.

... and I was just about to post a suggestion for this error: completely uninstall SageTV & re-install it. You should be able to continue using the previous wiz.bin file, but you may want to try getting rid of all the properties files and their autobackups in order to reconfigure everything.

BTW: SageTVRecorder doesn't support using the 150, so if it were installed after SageTV, perhaps it overwrote something that SageTV needed.
