Heya,

Well with limited testing, so far so good. I did see a few querks that suggested the installshield scripts need some tweaking, but no problems outside of text.
I've gotten FSE VMR9 going no problem. I've also gotten an older version of Cayars STV imported without issue (v17). I've watched imported recordings from my main PVR again without any issue (WOW FSE VMR9 looks very nice).
I'll be testin further with surf'n and such soon.

Thank you,
RedR

One thing that could use tweaking, not really a bug though.

When you are watching something, be it a Live TV, a Recorded Program, or a DVD and you press the Escape key to bring up your options...

When watching a DVD you can't press the up arrow to jump down to the bottom of the list, you always have to press down. When watching Live TV or a recorded show I can press up arrow to jump down to the bottom.

Also, when you left click to bring up your info and playhead, how about a DVD Menu button?

I'm not sure what you mean... there is a DVD Menu button on the pop-up Options menu (right click with the mouse) & there is a DVD Menu command you could link to any key/remote button.

EDIT: never mind this post... Was about the recording icons and their meaning.

Which is very well explained on page 29 of the v3.0 user manual.

It is in the manual yes... I found it confusing too. The round dots (A, R, 1) refer to the 'type' of scheduled recording. (A = All first run, and rerun, R = rerun only, 1 = 1st run only). The icons should be clearer but it's definitely a step in the right direction now that they are there. The color really helps clean up the list also.

From the WAF point, the round dots are waaaaaaaaaaaay at the top of the list. For me, it is the using white/silver to show the selected item. Really helps in navigating the guide.

Does anyone try this with XCARD? I cannot get the OSD showing up. Video plays fine, but OSD does not show up.

So I am not the only one? Got no response to my post... Is tvtv working for anyone? I tried the German one (tvtv.de).

Hi

I too have registered with TVTV and set up the channel linup wich is there with logos. The only guide data i get is ARD ZDF Arte all in german and CNN international and BBW World in english all other channels remain blank. I haver tried the dutch, german and english tvtv sites. I also would like to point out that there are local channels wich i would like in my lineup not necessarily with data

Are you saying that 3.0 broke the Xcard plugin?
I wasn't aware that 3.0 was going to support Xcard OSD (I wish!)

Channel Change Freeze

Has anyone found a work around for the channel freeze or is it a bugfix that we will have to wait to for?

I think there are still some things to work out regarding tvtv.

cmaffia: V3 should do nothing with the Xcard plugin setup (left it as-is for me), but if you do a clean install, it obviously won't be in the properties file, so I'm guessing that is what happened. And, as far as I know, switching channels (actually changing playback from one recording to another) is going to need a bug fix if that java version that gplasky mentioned (v1.4.2_06) doesn't work for you.

See my second post. I missed the property setting. Sorry for the false alarm! XCARD OSD works fine with 3.0

Last night I played around with V3 for about an hour and a half. The channel change lockup bug is what made me revert to the previous version. Exclusive VMR9 fullscreen worked fine for me on my FX5200. My quartz.dll had reverted once again so my jumpy playback from ffw/rwd was back. After fixing that everything runs beautifully.

The large bugs are what made me revert to V2. My wife is okay with me installing beta versions, as long as it doesn't interrupt her TV watching. Not being able to change the channel or show playing without pressing stop on the previous show before starting the next one is a big problem for her.

Keep up the good work guys. I can't wait to see what else is in store for Sage in the upcoming betas. I'll be trying each and every one, after the channel change lockup is fixed.

I figured out how to fix this predictably in my system. I reverted to Java 1.4 like some had suggested and it didn't work for me. I now have a button on my remote mapped to the right click menu's "close file" command. The "close file" command does nothing more than end playback. It does not stop a recording so no need to worry there. I find if before I change a channel or switch between a listed recording, if I hit the "close file" button on my remote, it switches with no problem. It's a slight hassle yes, but at least this method of pressing "close file" first allows me to keep the beta from freezing. Good Luck.

OK - I had a day to myself finally, so I had a propper play with 3.

My problems

~ Channel Changing does not work.
~ Exclusive mode button sticks. Mine stays on 'Yes' whatever you click
~ Jerky playback - (quartz.dll may need re-installing)
~ tvtv does not seem to work. It only imports in certain channels and even those are in German. I may not use this in the end as XMLTV import seems to be working well for me
~ Volume control not working - even when adjusted on UI
~ 'Network' folder does nothing when adding import dirs. Still have to 'specify' UNC path
~ Sage crashes when toggling full-screen

The channel changing bug is probably the only one that is killing Sage for me at the moment. This really does make it unuseable.

The Crashing when toggling full-screen is also superbly annoying, but something that I could 'live with' for a while.

Come on Sage - Give us a patch for the channel changing bug. Assides this it's almost useable.

Video Freezing

"Come on Sage - Give us a patch for the channel changing bug. Assides this it's almost useable."

Yes, PLEASE DO and ASAP ... I'm waiting patiently for a patch for this MAJOR problem before reverting back to V2. I'd like to avoid that since I upgraded 3 PCs and all this back and forth installation is time consuming!!

My video freezes quite frequently with 3.0 - recording sequential shows, even on the same channel, etc.

How fast do you think the Sage Bug Squashers are? It's only been a few days since this was released.

If I remember correctly, when V2 was in Beta last summer they had a new beta about once a week. So start looking forward to Fridays.

I know the change bug is a pain but mine is locking up occasionnaly while watching video or even just in a menu, no channel change required. Turning off FSE helped a lot but it still locks up and requires a reboot. I just calmly restart and remind myself that IT'S BETA, and I CHOSE to install it (I wouldn't have it any other way, BTW).
