For me, if it does lock up on changing channels I can just hit Stop a few times and then I don't have to reboot.

Beta Bugs
"I just calmly restart and remind myself that IT'S BETA, and I CHOSE to install it (I wouldn't have it any other way, BTW)."
I agree, but I'm hoping at least the freeze problem can be prioritized so I don't need to go back and un-install the beta (there are a lot of things about 3.0 that I like). I've had Sage for years, and I don't think I've ever had a beta that was unusable to the point where I needed to un-install it... but I can also sympathize with the guys at Sage - I know they are trying to do the right thing and build a successful product. |

I upgraded to V3 yesterday and do not have any problems changing channel. I am using the exetuner plugin to change channels thru firewire port on my dct box.
Am I missing something? |

Has anyone tried the power management settings in V3? I got real excited when I saw the PM option to change the status check time since this is what was keeping me from hibernating my Sage server. As I remember the status check times were fixed at a very short interval and prevented the server from ever sleeping.
Now, I have S3 enabled in BIOS along with wake from LAN (for clients) and set Windows to turn off the monitor after 1 minute, hard disks after 3 minutes, Standby after 5 minutes and Hibernate after 10 minutes. I also have set the Sage Status Check for 1000 sec. (16 min. 20 Seconds). The server does try to hibernate but then wakes back up after only 2-3 seconds. Any ideas? |

I checked in today and saw this beta... So, I stopped BeyondTV to try it and see if it's time to switch back to Sage...
Well, I was running an older version of Java (haven't updated in a few months) and could change channels about 5-10 times without any problem... Then, I would hit one that would lock.. I could tell it to change channel again, and it would work... I updated Java to the latest, and now it locks up every time I change the channel... I guess it's consistent now, at least... It looks very nice... The one big thing pulling me back to Sage is that the Sage Client is more responsive on my wife's old Celeron PC than BTV's client... Oddly enough, Sage's client seemed to lock up more often than BTV, though... Anyhow, the new version of BTV that I just installed seems to have a bug that corrupts scheduled records when you watch them while they record... Nothing's bug free! Back on topic, though - It does look really good.. Once it's more stable, I'll probably switch back full-time to Sage. |

One other issue that I've noticed is that files that I recorded using Sage months ago will not play back in Sage 3... I can hear sound, but get no video...

Tried this right before I left for work, and it seems to be changing channels (for the few I tried, before NONE would work). I'll give it a more 'extensive' test when I get home from work tonight .

Does anyone know if the photo display problem (posterized display with certain image files) is fixed in v3? Thanks!

Also, I thought i read somewhere in the manual that sage will not wake up from sleep for favorite recordings? is that true? I would think you would want it to wake up for all recordings.

Actually I thought it was just intellegent recordings that it didn't wake up for?

Right -- it only skips the wake-up call for IR; Favorites are important enough to wake the system.

Quick question
I don't have a monitor connected to my server and I use the MVP client. I noticed when I went to V3 I get an "incorrect color depth" error when opening the server and clients. Is there any way to get rid of this?
Thanks, Dennis |

Seems to be working fine here as far as a beta goes anyway
I have the same plugin gripes as others used to useing cayers stv though so i hope more version 3 stv's start showing up either that or they put in some of things like disk space indicator like cayers and others did in version 2. I did have some live tv veiwing issues with my HD tuner using stealths older .8 HDnetwork encoder but it does still record the shows and i can view them later without issue. On that i did retry seting up my Fusion card (I know HD support isn't included in this version but i wanted to try anyway i like to mess around and see what i can get away with). As in version 2.2.7 it saw my fusion card and did set it up i was able to tune in UPN 29 and it did tune in the channel and worked fine. So i tried changing channels but it looked like it was trying to change and record the new channel but nothing displayed in the window. So i decided that it didn't work and went back to stealths HDNE plugin and got the same thing. I later found out that Sage was recording the shows on both setups (stealths plugin and sages internal tuner setup) but it just wouldn't display what was being recorded under live viewing weird. Anyway all the channels that had been recorded did work when i played them back in media player so it was recording them it just didn't want to display them. After that i went back to stealths plugin and it recorded shows on a few different channels without problems and they playedback without problems. All in all it's pretty good for a first v3 beta thanks Jeff and Dan

[EDIT: For other reasons, I switched from STV3 to Cayars (although it is NOT a V3 STV) and imagine my surprise when my EOF problems disappeared! I've been hitting EOFs on every recording on my system and it hasn't crashed yet.
Who would have guessed that an early beta and an STV that was made for a previous version would give me the most stable system I've had ever?] I am a 350 owner. With 2.2.8, I got a hard system crash anytime I let a recorded show play to EOF. With 3.0, I don't get a system crash, but Sage gets very unstable. For example, the screens will not refresh, so after navigating thru 3-4 menus, you still see the ghost of the previous menu (both on the display and the television). I can start playback of another file and it will playback fine, but opening a menu during playback (or after stopping) causes the ghosting to start again. Only a system restart will resolve the situation. Also, after playing until EOF, I've noticed that some random keystroke sequences have caused a hard system crash. No consistentcy in the keystroke sequences. Bottom Line: 350 EOF is definitely NOT resolved. It does cause application instability, but not a hard system crash, so it is a slight improvement. YMMV. Humorous Anecdote: I finally have my girlfriend trained. When she sees a show ending, she'll go diving across furniture to grab the remote and hit "stop" before the system crashes and she mutters a string of obscenities that would make Yosemite Sam blush if she is too late.
