OSD disappers quickly

On my sage server, the OSD in live TV disappers after about 1 second when you hit the info button or pause or whatever. The show progress bar stays for as long as I set it for in setup. Its the volume and TV show info that disappear. Two things I noticed, It works fine if I set the video render to overlay. (stays as long as the progress bar) unfortuanatly I get no video when I do that. I use a external vga to tv box on the server not a tv out on the pc. Secondly, it does this with whatever stv I use. Has anyone else noticed this when not using overlay? Im trying to find out if its my machine. I dont have a PCI graphics card with TV to try this with and my server doesnt have AGP. It works fine on my client PC, i may take the vga to tv box down and hook it up to the client and switch from overlay to default and see if it happens there too.
