Receiving unencrypted cable channels w/o Cable Co's box?

I'm curious, how many of the channels are unencrypted? I've got Cox cable, used to work there in fact, but I didn't get into recording the digital stuff until after I left. Do you record any of the HD channels? are they unencrypted (besides the OTA rebroadcasts)?

It will vary from provider to provider, some give everything, some give nothing. You can record anything/everything, but only the unencrypted stuff can be played (the encrypted stuff is a black screen on my MyHD).

I have Cox (in Arkansas), and they offer about 70 channels that you can get without a cable box. Either stop by your cable company or call them to see what your options are.

I assume those are analog channels though, the OP was referring to digital/HD channels.
