SageTV 3 beta vs. GBPVR beta

While waiting for the next beta release for SageTV 3.0.x, I happened to visit GBPVR's website...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that GBPVR seems to offer significantly more functionality. Am I missing something obvious? How is it possible that GBPVR is free, relatively brand new (not even version 1.0), and offers more/better functionality (ie Music, Pictures, Videos, Theater listings, etc)? I realize that no PVR app compares to the older version of SageTV's stability, but what about when comparing the latest products with preliminary HDTV support?

tried it... it lacked an intelligent recording function if I remember... which I really want. Even if it's the half-broke sage version of it. And I also remember it being pretty unstable relatively speaking. And when you are talking about a pvr app you REALLY gotta have stability in my opinion.

Thanks Kanati, I was hoping to hear specifics about GBPVR's stability issues. In all fairness, SageTV 3.0.x has it's own share of issues with HDTV/VMR9+FSE.

I would install GBPVR and see for myself, but it appears it does take some time to set up with all the extra plugins. It appears GBPVR is more modular and you only install functionality that you need. It would be good to hear from people who has given GBPVR a good try (especially with HDTV) and compare it to the current SageTV 3.0.7.

GBPVR isn't a client/server architecture; otherwise I'd probably give it a go.
