padding....yes another question about padding...sorry

Is it possible to remove padding on ANY back-to-back favorite, not just ones that are on the same channel. For example I want to record "The War at Home" @ 8:30 on channel 11. It has a padding of 1 minute for start and stop. My wife wants "Desperate Housewives" @ 9:00 on channel 13. It also has a 1 minute pad for start and stop. The pad on each recording causes a conflict. I really don't care about a one minute missing from either one, I'd rather be able to record them both. But I don't want to turn off my padding because it is useful when things are not back-to-back.

The conflicting recordings will only let me cancel one of the recordings to record the other, but I want them both. The great fall lineup is upon us and the shows I like conflict in this way with the shows my wife likes just about every day. This will start my own "War at Home". And NO I don't want to have to buy a second tuner to do this. And NO I also don't want to have to set manually recordings for ALL my favorites. I have searched the forums and the guide, but have not yet found an answer to this. Can anyone help?

How have you applied the padding?

I have 1 min padding either way as default for all favorites. There is an option some where to ingnore padding on two favs recorded one after the other.

It's in customize

remove padding on back to back padding. Maybe this will help

...as far as the manual states and experience has taught, that only removes the padding for recordings that are back-to-back on the SAME channel. I want it to remove the padding on ANY back to back recordings, no exceptions.

Right -- that is for same-channel only. I don't think there is a way to automatically turn it off for other situations. I know it isn't the solution you want, but you could consider removing the start or stop padding from the fav for the show you think will be least affected.

Or he could just set up a manual recording for those shows every week right?

Of course the "real answer" is just go out and get another PVR-500 and viola, no more conflicts for those shows. WARNING: Your favorites list will always grow to fill your available tuners +1. (I've got 2 PVR-500's and still run into conflicts, especially with the new TV season where I watch anything that I might even remotely be interested in at least once to give it a chance)

which I said I didn't want to do. call me lazy or whatever, I got better things to do than spend hours setting up recordings....things like WATCHING my recordings instead

And no I don't want to buy another card to do this. For the reason that my favorites will just continue to grow, so thats not really a solution.

So, Opus, should we then call this a feature request? Or could some interprising STV maker make a solution for this?

That isn't something you can change in an STV, since the STV is not the part that controls schedule creation.

So feature request it is then! Where do I do this? I see no specific forum section for such things?

You would send requests directly to SageTV, since they are not really tracked on the forum.
