Combining MPG files?

Not sure where to post this so here goes...

My SageTV computer was cutting off the end of shows so I had it sync up it's time with an onlien time server through the WIndows XP interface. Unfortunately the online place's time is 2 minutes faster than Time Warner's time so all my recordings from the past 2 days now have the end 2 minutes cut off.

Are there any free utilities that I can use to splice MPGs together so I can get the first 2 minutes off the second show and add it on to the first show? I have a program to cut out section of an MPG but not to add extra pieces on.

Thanks for any help.

not free but I use TEMPGenc's Mpeg Tools. I think they have a trial though...

I really really really like VideoRedo for miscellaneous .mpg editing chores. You can cut, join, adjust audio/video sync, write VOB files, etc. For me, it has greatly simplified the trimming of leading/trailing padding & commercials. It's not free ($49.99) ... but for me it was money very well spent. A 30 day free trial is available so you can see if it does what you need (I decided to buy after less than a week of use). It can be found at
http://www.videoredo.com. They also have a pretty active public forum and the developers have been very responsive to usability/functionality issues and requests.

I'll second VideoRedo. EXCELLENT program. Easy to use, actually works as advertised, very stable.

I've edited hundreds of programs with it (using the VideoReDo files automatically generated by ShowAnalyzer), and have nothing bad to say!

Worth every penny in my opinion.

I'll have to third it. I like it because it produces files that are "well formed". Pefectly complying with the standard. It puts out a high quality (bitwise) MPEG. It is fast, intuitive.

I use it to test the accuracy of ShowAnalyzer's detection. Just set it to output the vprj file and then I can go from cut to cut easily making sure it is perfect.

I don't have a single bad word to say either.

Jere

Same here... nothing beats video redo... and I don't know if they still have the offer in effect but if you buy videoredo you get a free upgrade to the "Plus" version.

I'll have to fith (or is it sixth?) that. VideoReDo is money well spent. Also very useful for combining multiple VOBs into one MPG. (Which is what I do when converting DVDs from PAL to NTSC and vice versa.)

They also have a generous update policy. I paid for it maybe two years ago and was still able to upgrade to the latest for free.

WOW it sounds really good.

I am in the market for a program like this, and everyone so far seems happy with it, and the reviews seem to be good. The software look super rich with features. So I will take the plunge. I dont think I will regret it for one second. I want to start learning how to edit my mpg videos that sage is creating, and this software seems really good for the price.
