Smooth Camera pans/DVD playback with 9600XT
Recently, I connected a front projector to the SageTV box. The bigger picture makes picture problems more pronounced in contrast to the old 29inch SDTV CRT I was using.
When playing DVDs either through SageTV or through WinDVD7 with any of the decoders, using overlay, the camera pans and fast action scenes are not smooth. They are jumpy, not much, but enough to notice on a big screen. As a result, vertical lines and objects don't move across the screen smoothly. At first I thought this was caused by the decoders so I trialed the latest nVidia and Intervideo decoders with no improvement. VMR9 makes things worse. nVidia was slightly better than the others but still not good enough. It is interesting that with wmv hidef 1280x720 clips, playback is as smooth as silk. Is this as much as I could expect from my ATI9600XT or are there any settings or things to do to improve the situation. Any ideas please?

Give nVidia a try with VMR9 and Fullscreen Exclusive (FSE) mode.

Did and it looks great.
Found that my problem though is the card refresh rate. For the resolutions I was using it was either 60Hz or 72Hz. And I am in a PAL country where it should have been 50Hz or 75Hz... .
