FF/RW not skipping the right amount of time?
I have my FF set to skip 30 seconds and RW set to skip 10 seconds. My logic is that I will hit FF until I'm back in the show, then back up once and be pretty close to when it starts back up. I've been encountering strange behavior, though. It seems like the time bar advances by the correct amount, but I do not always skip the right amount of time forward. For example, I was watching a program last night, and when I hit FF, it would only skip ahead a couple of seconds (took 10-15 presses to get through ONE commercial). The RW seemed to skip back the full 10 seconds, though. Sometimes I will hit the button a few times and get back into the show, then start backing up, but it will take several RW's to get back to the start of the show. It's as if it went more than 30 seconds forward. It seems to actually be backing up the correct amount, too (the scenes change substantially, etc.) I read the other post about the time bar moving too fast, but I'm not sure this would be related.

Were you watching a previously recorded show or one that was still recording? If it was still recording are you sure you weren't trying to FF past the live TV broadcast?
My only other thought is Sage has 2 FF/RW commands that each can be set to different amounts of time. Are the remote buttons linked to the correct FF command? |

![]() I am using my remote with "-event" switches. I don't have FF2 or RW2 defined, so it should not be doing that unless there is some feature of Sage that after 3 consecutive FF's it starts using FF2 (or something like that -- 3 in this example is arbitrary; I haven't observed that it always does this after three presses.) Maybe the progress bar was just off a little. I didn't think to do that sort of troubleshooting at the time because it indicated that I was not caught up with the live broadcast. -JK |

I'm curious: how did you change the FF & REW times? Did you do that via the detailed setup Customizations option, or did you change the properties? If you changed the properties, what exact values did you use? (Actually, it might be good to know what the videoframe/ff_time & videoframe/rew_time are set as regardless of how you made the change.)
And, is this for a 'regular' mpg, or a HD recording? - Andy

If it doesn't happen on SD recordings from a different capture device, then I would assume it is a HD issue and file a bug report on it.
