Exclamation Starting to Watch Recorded Program While Still Recording

If I start to watch a program that is still in the recording process, when I get to the end of the program, I am not prompted to keep or delete it. Instead, it appears to go on to whatever is currently recording.

Is this by design?

Regards,
Rob

Yes, that is as intended. When watching a currently recording show, you are watching live TV, so it continues with the next show.

Even if it is timeshifted, Andy? For example, I usually start watching about 35 minutes into the program so I can start skipping commercials...

Can we get an option to turn this behavior off?

It seems like you are undermining the term "Live TV". If it started recording earlier then you are watching a recording. It shouldn't matter wether or not that recording is still in progress.

It's actually a nice feature for sport events.

I don't see that there's that big of a disadvantage. You just have to delete through the recordings list.

BTW, I think it does give you the delete message if there's another program recording immediately after, even if it's on the same channel.

When you start watching a show that is currently recording, Sage has no idea whether you want to just watch that show, or intend to watch the channel (as delayed live TV). So Sage makes the safe assumption, and continues recording the channel after the show ends, as it would do if you had just hit pause while watching the channel - worst case, it just throws the show away later if you don't watch it.

Seems pretty straight-forward and logical to me. That's the way every other PVR I have used works.

It's "Live TV" in the PVR sense that you're watching what's currently recording.

I don't think it's necessarily a safe assumption to just go on recording. The problem is that favorites which should be recorded are bumped.

I just stay away from shows that have not finished recording, which is kind of annoying.

I'd like to see airings launched from the Sage Recordings screen be treated as "non-live", and airings launched from the EPG be treated as "live".

Favorites should take priority. I agree that I'd rather have it stop recording. I ran into this problem the other day and filled my drive with garbage. That's not such a big deal since I have a dedicated drive, but going through and deleting all of those programs is a pain. I need to map a delete button on my remote, otherwise it's like 4-6 clicks to get rid of each show.

This sounds like a sensible solution to me. I'd like to see it this way. I guess it would be nice for the sports example if the game goes past the scheduled end, but I pretty much always watch sports off of the EPG.

I've noticed that in the case of a favorite, Sage will ask me if it's OK to change the channel to record it. This isn't a new situation, and I think they have it covered pretty well.
