WMA playback on client does not work
Hi,
Another happy customer with WMA playback - unfortunately it does not work on SageTVClient. The albums show up and everything and while music plays fine on the server on the client I get an error message about the system not being able to play back the video portion. I did a search on the properties files on everything I could think of but could find no differences between client and server. Windows media player plays them fine on all systems. Any suggestions before I file a bug report? This is on v3.0.14.50. Jan |

Can the client see the wma files at the same path the server does?

St(r)anger,
No client couldn't see the files. Remapped the drive and it works now! So it seems like wma behaves like imported video where you also need the same mapping while for recordings and mp3 this was not a requirement. (My mp3 and wma are on the same drive and mp3 was working while wma wasn't). Thanks a lot! Jan |

I think you just need the direct path like that when SageTV is not capable of streaming the media type to the client, so the client has to read the file directly for it to work. As far as I know, imported videos shouldn't need UNC paths either, unless the file type requires direct file access for playback.
