Help with a couple bugs
I just installed Sage 4.0 and at first everything seemed to work perfectly, then I started getting some odd bugs on applications that worked fine at first.
First, I have the Hauppauge 45 button remote and the green power button puts sage to sleep alright but when I hit it again I get an error window that says application not found. When I first installed it sage went to sleep and woke up just fine with this one button, now it just sleeps. I even reinstalled the program but no joy. Second, I have a directv D10-100 and of course the IR blaster doesn't work. Ok fine, I've got a serial cable ordered. In the meantime when I bring up the program guide, find a prog that I want to watch or record then select it the video freezes and a few seconds later I get a box appearing that says "no signal". The idea being that until I get serial control I select the show I want to watch in sage, then use the number pad on the directv remote to actually go there, thus keeping titles and record times all synched. I have to exit sage and restart it to get TV again. Again this seemed to work just fine when I first installed 4.0 and now for some reason it doesn't. I probably changed the wrong setting somewhere and just can't figure out where. Third, when playing imported video files they seem to start out fine, then I get a black screen for a few seconds and when I get the picture back the sound sync is way off. I have to stop playback and restart it to get the sound to sync again. This usually happens 3 or 4 times in an hour program. Not a huge problem, but kinda annoying. Any help would be much appreciated, the old lady is getting annoyed with all the cussing that goes on when one of these errors happens, not to mention the compulsive futzing trying to get it to work right by myself. For the other problems, I would try changing the audio & video renderer & decoder in Detailed Setup. - Andy

Thanks Opus4, that seemed to do the trick, sorta. I ended up doing a clean reinstall to get the settings back to where they were before I messed with them. I was trying to customize the look of Sage with the clear menus and the picture visible beneath it, but apparently something in my setup can't handle that. I'll probably keep messing with it trying to get what I want, but at least now I know where this particular problem is from.
Now the next trick is to download the .dll that will let me tune this bloody box to the local channels below 100. I'm sure that will backfire on me as well in one way or another. Oswulf |
