Removing Plug-ins

Is there a way to remove a 'plug-in' if you decide you can't use it or you don't like it? I just found out the FF/RW plug in will not work with my MVP, and I'd really like to get the buttons back the way it was before. I'm a little late in backing up my properties file, but I tried editing it and did not find anything there.

(sorry if this is in a FAQ somewhere, I tried doing a search of the forums and didn't see the answer anywhere)

Larry

You mean removing an STVi import, right? No, they cannot be removed. Essentially, you should make a copy of the STV before importing any STVi file so you will have the old STV available to use if you don't like the import.

(I don't know whether there is a way to disable what that import added, though.)

If you didn't make a copy of your STV, you can download the original one from here: http://download.sage.tv/SageTV3.stv

Sounds like a great idea for a future SageTV feature ...

Add/Remove Imports ... Yes?

I agree

Most software has an install/uninstall feature, would be a good thing for plugins too. In my case, reading the instructions first would have helped (back up that properties file!), but with a little effort I can get back to normal.

Thanks for the replies,
Larry

It is currently technically impossible for STVI's to be removed... Thats why the instructions say to back up before importing, and import into a COPY of your working STV file.

The imports are actually patches that modify the STV file, and save the updated version.

Why not have Sage do an automatic backup up when an STVi is loaded and then Sage can load the backed up STV as a means of uninstalling the STVi. Just a thought as a work around.

Automatic backing up sounds great, but what if you, like me, install 4-5 of them? You'd need to make sure that you did not overwrite any other backups...

Is it possible to see a list of the imported STVI's somewhere? What happens if you re-import an STVI?

Rob

Sometimes it works (when I have written code do cope with it, which is only sometimes possible) Usually it just creates a mess -- If you think as STVi's as patches, then you are patching an already-patched STV file..
