Switching to Full Screen mode Crashes GUI
Just upgraded from latest beta to V4.0. Running SageTV in service mode. After I start the SageTV GUI and try to switch into Full Screen mode, the GUI crashes and is gone. Here is the beginning of the error log that is generated:
Code:

I would uninstall java and delete the directory. Reinstall Sage and that will also install its version of java with it. See if that helps.

A little update from last night:
I was able to get the system to go full screen, but not until I turned off VMR9 and FSE mode. Once I got it to go full screen, I was able to turn FSE back on and play videos, etc. I haven't tried shutting down and starting back up again. Maybe it was just a little hiccup? But that is a good point about uninstalling Java. Thanks Gerry. If things aren't working again, that will be my next step. Sort of off topic, but has anyone else noticed the following things: 1.) When in windowed-mode, the SageTV UI sometimes has missing buttons, especially when in the Detailed Setup screen. and 2.) That you cannot resize the windows when running SageTVClient? The only way I've been able to resize that window is to right click the title bar, and it has two options (640x480 and 320x240 I think).

From what I have experienced and what I've read on the forum, it is common and not unexpected for Sage to crash when using FSE and toggling between fullscreen and windowed.

Thanks for the link Andy, that explains some of the things I've been seeing. I actually uninstalled JRE 1.4 when I went to 1.5. I'll try putting it back on and seeing if that helps.

Here are the screen shots.
1.) missing.jpg - illustrates the missing options in Detailed Setup -> Advanced when in windowed mode. 2.) noresize.jpg - shows how there isn't an option to resize the window. 3.) option.jpg - shows the only 2 options for resizing the window if you right click on the title bar. I have found that I can see the whole screen if I adjust the overscan settings, but again my only 2 options are 640x480 and 320x240. Remember, this is only happening when I use the SageTV Client.

Oh -- it is a _small_ window. For the missing font, try setting this property: ui/hide_cropped_text=false.
I'm not sure why the window can't be resized. If you search the properties file for 'plugin_class', are there any listed? For osd_rendering_plugin_class, perhaps? What is the ui/frame_decoration property set to? I'm curious: what size do you want the window to be? You can edit the quick_menu_sizes property to add your own custom sizes to the pop-up from right-clicking on the title bar. - Andy
