using USB 2.0 for recording/playing back?

Does any use an external USB 2.0 hard drive for recording their sagetv recordings to? And/or also playing back the mpeg movies from using a SageTV client, or other piece of software like PowerDVD to play their movies?

I would like to add more hard drive space, and dont have any more room in the case. I am hoping usb 2.0 is fast enough to do such things.

Thanks

I have a USB 2.0 self powered 80 gig drive for my laptop. It plays back video just fine. As I stated in the other thread usb2.0 has more than enough bandwidth to handle any video you want to throw at it.

I haven't recorded to that drive but I have little doubt that it would be fine for the job.

HD material works with UBS2.0

I would agree -- I have six 250Gig drives for storage of SageTV recorded files -- all in High Definition and all connected via USB 2.0.

Works great for both HD Sage recording and HD Sage playback -- even at the same time.

OK, I am convinced. That will allow me unlimited expansion possibilities. AWESOME!
