XMLTV grabber for Australia exists
I don't know if it's common knowledge, but I've certainly seen a lot of disappointed/frustrated Australian users that want to be able to use an EPG in Australia.
I've managed to do this but not for SageTV yet (I haven't downloaded the Sage stuff yet - I'm using myHTPC). For unix, go to http://www.onlinetractorparts.com.au/rohbags/ and check out the Australian XMLTV grabber. The author managed to get the ok from eBroadcast to rip the content of their site. I haven't tested this one. For Windows (I'm running XP and it works fine) I use TVHarvest, which you can download from this guy: http://www.users.bigpond.com/OdGregg/ - look for the TVHarvest link. Gregg has also created a myHTPC plugin to accept the outputs from TVHarvest. I assume something similar may be required for SageTV? Hopefully this gives Australian people hope - at least I've got it working on my PC using myHTPC to the point where I can see Australian TV (FTA and Foxtel) programming. I haven't tried making it work with a TV tuner card etc. yet. Dir. |

I'm using TVHarvest for my SageTV EPG. It works fine, although there's a little "massaging" of the XML data required if more than one day's EPG data is to be uploaded - TVHarvest saves each day's data into an individual file, you'll need to copy each day's data into a single file and delete the duplicated channel id tags etc.
This shouldn't be a problem if you update your epgdata daily. I'm happy to help anyone get their Australian EPG working if you're heading down the TVHarvest route. Ben |
