Post results of everyones HTPC setup from the forum database?

I assume that everyone who has filled out their profile on this forum, with information about their HTPC is stored in a database. I just thought it might be nice if there was a way to have someone write a query/new php page(s) that show this information all in one place.

I think it would be nice to see a list (even if its realllllly long) of what hardware everyone is using. Unless there is a way to search for such information now, and I just never noticed it. I really like seeing the footers in peoples messages about their hardware. And think it would be really helpful for new people to have access to this too.

Or maybe a php page that has a few options, like sort by video card, or a drop down list(s) boxes with things you can choose from. Just so you could easily sort the master list in different ways based on what you were looking for. Video card, hard drive, tuner types, specific features supported, etc

Heck, if I had access to the db I could give it a try. Or even if I had access to a copy of just that data, I could set it all up on one of my servers, and then give it back when its done. I have programmed many web applications in the past, php and asp.

This would have been really handy for me when I was trying to figure out if anyone was running a 64bit OS. It might cut down on the 'what is the best video card for sage 4.0' threads as well.

I agree. I think there might be a lot of great data just sitting there collection little dust balls on it. When maybe we can exploit it and use it here to help people make decisions or at least get a good feeling of the types of hardware. Heck I could see lots of little graphs, and counters, HTML tables, that slice and dice the data in various ways.

It all comes down to how the data is currently stored, and if its not stored in a normalized method, then it will take some brute force parsing of the data to make it useful. But I am sure it would help a lot of newer people coming here. I know it would help me in my ongoing quest. I may not be the best programmer in the world, but I am sure I could make something work, and am willing to work on it in my spare time.
