Help... all I have is a black screen !!
I got home last night and restarted my sage recorder and a blcack screen came up.. and thats all that happens now....
I have rebooted several times and even left the black screen up overnight to see if it was due to the CPU having to catch up... This morning it was the same ... Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? I am using v4 and its been running fine since I installed it when it was released.. |

Mine did this when I switched from SageMC 16x9 back to the original STV. Nothing I did would get the UI to come back up. Though it DID continue to record during this time. I reinstalled over the top of itself and it was fine after that. I would imagine a backup of the preferences and/or wiz.bin would have fixed it but I hadn't backed up since going to V3.X. Relatively simple fix though so give that a try.

I did that switch in one of my clients right before this happened so you may be correct...
I will try your solution when I get home ... Hopefully I will not lose any of my settings Thanks |

Did you delete your properties files & their autobackup copies that SageTV creates so that you start with a new configuration?
What has changed on your system between when it worked & now? - Andy

Where are these properties files and autobackup files? ... I just saved the sagetv folder on another drive and tried to reinstall...
I do have a bunch of wiz.bin.corrupt files... Last edited by BBCritical; 11-23-2005 at 07:01 AM. |

The properties files are in your SageTV directory... if you deleted/moved the entire installation dir before reinstalling, then you got rid of them. If you just copied the dir to another location, then you should try getting rid of all the properties files before reinstalling when having problems.

I did this (deleted properties and backup files) and it still does the same thing....
Funny thing is when I do remove program and then reinstall... the files I removed are still there... could the corrupted wiz.bin files have anything to do with this??? Unfortunately I think I need a step by step walk through on how to fix this Last edited by BBCritical; 11-26-2005 at 09:39 PM. |
