Tuning 2 channel in 500's, plus good avi/divx editor

This is my first post here so bare with me please. I have the MCE-150 plus sagetv 2.2. I'm not sure how to tune to channels that are above 125. I dont see an option or anything for that. I need to be able to tune to HBO channels in the mid 500's.

Secondly, im trying to figure out what programs are good to convert and edit the mpeg-2 streaming video codec that sagetv records in. I want to convert to xvid w/o commercials. I can easily convert to xvid but when i tried to edit out the commercials with virtualdub, i ended up witha 31 gig file! Obviously im doing something wrong or this program cant retain xvid properties.

Thx in advanced for your help

You need to use a cable box to tune them, and then an IR blaster (or serial) to control the box.

Video ReDo or Womble MPEG VCR are probably the best MPEG cutting (ie commercial-cutting) programs out there. After which you can use whatever program you currently do to convert them to Xvid.

Ok, i got the conversion part, but im not sure what you mean by using the cable box.
Are you saying take the wire from the cable box and hook it up into my pc? And if so, doesnt only one cable box work per tv/monitor?

Basically i mean the cable box we have is already hooked up on a tv. I simply took the cable wire from the wall, spliced it and hooked it up into both the cable box and my pc.

A tuner card like the one on your 150 is the same as the analog tuner in your TV. When you hook the cable up to the TV you don't get those channels either. You need to use the cable box even without the PC. So with the PC you need to feed the video out from your cable box into the tuner card. Then you can let Sage control the cable box just like you would with the cable box remote.

You have to use Save as... Direct stream copy
