Cannot Gain Focus w/Haup. 43btn Remote
I'm still working to get v4 configured comfortably. In v2.8 I was using an irremote.ini file that was posted here. Perhaps the most ingenious part of this was the use of the power button. When pressed it would gain focus, press again to sleep sage, and again to wake sage. Can this be achieved with Sage's new Hauppauge remote support?
Also with that custom file, when play/ff/rw/stop/pause was pushed, the command was delivered to sage even if the application didn't have focus. Can this be regained? I'm sure I'm not the only one frustrated by this. How are you coping?

I hae the same remote. I don't have any complaints about focusing issues. I use windows messaging to send commands to SageTV via remote.ini, so sagetv receives the commands no matter what. I think that windows messaging is the best way to go if you use your PC for other things than SageTV.

I noticed the same behavior. I had a stripped down irremote.ini that used sendcommands. Whenever I updated Sage, I would copy back in my preferred irremote.ini.
When V4 came out, I went ahead and left the new irremote.ini in to see if I liked it better. I like the button layout, but need to see about setting up all the commands to be sendcommands. The default ini has a mix of sendcommands and keystrokes, that seems to be why sometimes focus is required, and sometimes not required. |

When a new version of SageTV is installed & you check the box to install support for the Hauppauge remotes, it will reset the irremote.ini file to the default remote layout. If you installed it the previous time & then clear the check box this time, it will remove the SageTV support from the ini file. If you install a new version of the Hauppauge IR software, it will completely reset your ini file. Therefore, I suggest that you save a copy of your irremote.ini file once it is configured the way you want it.
SageTV inserts no commands in the ini file that the use Windows messages. If you have a mixture of keystrokes + messages, then perhaps that was the result of letting SageTV modify the ini file on top of your customizations. See my sig lines for Hauppauge remote links: check post 3 of link 1 and/or post 15 of link 3 for ini files that use keystrokes & messages, respectively. - Andy

Ok, for some reason I was thinking that Sage replaced the ini, not that it just added in a Sage section. I forgot that the no-focus ini was a "custom" ini. I guess I need to do some tweeking of my original ini file.
