2nd Sage server or Recorder
I remember reading one of the "upcoming features" lists long before even the public beta for V3. It may have even been the original from the CES list last Jan. One of the listed features was that 2 Sage servers could be set to work in a kind of master/slave relationship. A second server would act kind of like a Sage Recorder system set up to be a network encoder to the first server.
Did this feature ever make it into the V4 release? Or was there an equivelant upgrade to SageRecorder as well? I haven't really payed any attention to the Recorder forum but had the feeling that Recorder was not being updated or posssibly even fading away. I would like to build another server for adding both HD space and HDTV tuners but don't know whether to get another full copy of SageTV or SageRecorder. Although it may be some time before I actually build it. Christmas in a Month, and two B-days in January I have to finance and then a client only system really nicely done for the living room/budget home theatre. Hmmm, probably not till spring but I've been wondering about this feature since I read about it and finally remembered to ask. |

This was already available back in v2.something-or-other -- see this post for some info.
Only SageTV has been updated for new encoders; SageTV Recorder does not support the use of all the encoders that SageTV can use. - Andy
