After upgrading to Sage 4.0 cable box channels don't change
I just upgraded from Sage 2 to Sage 4, and Sage no longer changes the channels on my Motorola cable box. I'm using the old Hauppauge remote (which still controls Sage) and a USB-UIRT which used to change the channels on the box. The Remote Control configuration under Detailed Setup/Commands is set to USB-UIRT receiver. Is there some dinky little thing I've forgotten to do? I hope.
Thanks!

Did you install it to the same location as the previous SageTV version and did you previously have to teach the box's codes to SageTV during source setup? It may no longer see the codes that you taught it, so I would try removing & reconfiguring your source.
Also, if it was installed to a new directory, make sure you aren't trying to use the properties files from the old installation. - Andy

How do you change the folder the UIRT works from?
Well, this just gets curiouser and curiouser. To recap, after installing Sage 4.0 over my previous 2.X installation, my USB-UIRT was unable to change the channels on my Motorola cable box; i.e., when watching Live TV on Sage, if I changed the channel on the screen, the number of the channel would change, but the cable box would stay the same. And, naturally, scheduled recordings only recorded whatever channel happened to already be on the cable box.
So, out of ideas, I was about to uninstall 4.0 and go back to 2.X using the Sage.properties and Wiz.bak and Wiz.bin files I had saved just in case of a problem. Anyway, I was kind of looking at my Programs folder where Sage is installed in the Frey Technologies folder. Then I noticed that I also had a folder named Sage in my Programs folder; I think this is probably where I used to install Sage long long ago when I first started using the program. That would be many many many installations ago. Somewhere along the line I probably got tired of removing 'Frey Technologies' from the installation folder name and began to just accept Frey's default installation location. So I'm looking at this Sage folder and wondering if I shouldn't just delete it, because I no longer install Sage there. While looking through its contents, I notice that the Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT folder doesn't have the MotorolaDCT2000.ir file in it that is in the same sub folder under Program files\Frey Technologies. So, just for the heck of it, I decide to copy the Motorola file and put it in the Program files\Sage\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT folder. And VOILA!!! Suddenly my Sage program works again and can change the channels on the cable box. Does this make sense? The USB-UIRT seems to use the old Program files\Sage folder even though Sage itself is no longer installed there. Is there a way I could make the UIRT use the Program Files\Frey Technologies folder where Sage is actually installed so I could safely delete the Program Files\Sage folder?

When you upgrade to Sage 4.0 it no longer uses the Frey Technoligies folder. Sage 4.0 installs Sage to the Program Files\Sage directory. That is probably where your issue is. If you're using the same properties files, some of your paths may need to change.
