SageTV4 Suddenly only displaying snow

My SageTV v4.0.x is suddenly only displaying snow in new recordings and live TV, however older recordings are playing just perfectly. Now, since the older recordings are playing just perfectly it isn't the video decoders I have installed. I've tried the NVIDIA ones, the SageTV ones, ffdshow even and Cyberlink decoders. All of them are displaying the same snow image for a picture on all new recordings and live television. However, audio is still coming through perfectly.


The set top box isn’t the problem because I can watch TV manually with it like I always could. The problem seems to be with a sudden glitch in SageTV that I am not really able to find. I’m sort of limited to the options you guys give me in the software.

Any help? Please? It's messed up several recordings I wanted. It's a good thing I have a ReplayTV here or I'd never have seen my shows.

If you haven't done so already, I would double-check the video connection between the box & the tuner in the PC -- try a different video cable.

I did. Besides. It works in GB-PVR (I installed it last night to see if it was SageTV software doing it by itself). I did a fair amount of playing around to try and find the problem and I have come to the conclusion SageTV4 has simply just broken randomly. I havent changed anything in SageTV since I upgraded to version 4.0.x and this only started in the last 2 days. For reference, I upgraded to SageTV4 the day after it was posted on your website. This is the first hint of this problem.

Hauppauge PVR-500 /w FM tuner.

The next thing I would try is to remove the source & add it again.

Was anything recently changed? Updated drivers for the 500 or something, perhaps?

Nothing was updated. No. And as I said, it seems to work in GB-PVR. I installed GB-PVR last night to see if SageTV was doing this on its own and rule out a hardware problem.

If I remove the source does that nullify my favorites and recordings???

Not necessarily; if something had been changed, SageTV might have been thrown off by the change, while a new installation worked. Anyway...

No, those are tracked separately & are not linked to any particular source/lineup/etc.

For now it appears to be fixed, but we'll see how long that lasts.
Sage did break itself all on its lonesome. So we'll see.
