XVID FF does not work

Hi all,

I am having trouble with fast forwarding on the client machine. in XVID movies (The borthers Grimm and such).

There is no problem with shows recorded with sage (Mpeg-2) and Mpeg1 files.
also Zoomplayer is able to run and FF without problems (on the XVID files).

I use sagetv4.14 (server+client) ffdshow 12.8.05, ac3filter that came with sage and SageTV Mpeg decoder (also tried ffdshow

and cyberlinks) using vmr9 (tried overlay and default).

I turned the console on the client and here is what I get when I run a movie:

Xvids work fine for me too (although I have 'got hold' of some XVid Avi's that do not play in any windows media player apart from VideoLan which has a more robust AVI parser )

If the file duration shows up in Sage as 0mins, then sage will have a problem FF'ing...

To get sage to re-scan the file duration, rename the file, and rescan the video library. If it still shows up as 0 bytes, there may be a problem with the file itself.

The file duration is ok, also tried erscanning
ZP offcourse plays everything nicely.

This happens only on some XVID files, like the latest BGC and Stargate atlantis.

I have had this happen to me, but it is rare. In fact, I had not experienced it till the other day. Sorry I can't help, but at least you're not alone...

Latest Atlantis as an Xvid works fine for me, FFD, REW, all works fine. May depend on the encoder settings that were used on the encode?
