How do I copy MVP client properties files
Is there any way to replicate client propertiesfiles for the MVP client. My problem is that I am using Nielm STV Dynamic Menu and want to set the custom menus on both of my MVP extenders. I cannot type characters with the remote and feel the only way to replicate is to do via copy to the MVP client properties files. Looking in the directory they appear to be listed by MAC address of the MVP box, but the properties files look alot different than the client properties file I have on the server.
Any thoughts or experiences on this?? Thanks in advance -danny |

I think the MVP just use the server's properties as the base default values & then stores anything different in its own properties file.

What I did was create a copy of SageTV3.xml to bedroom.xml for instance then I loaded that on my MVP with Setup>Advanced Setup to create a separate STV for the MVP. Then I installed the dynamic menu import on the MVP by importing like you would on a regular client. Then unplug the MVP and wait until the properties file in the clients directory is updated (should be just a couple of minutes I think). Once that is done open the property file in notepad and look for "nielm/main_menu_xml_file" and change it to a copy of the default menu that I create for each MVP. So for the MVP in my bedroom I created a copy of menu.xml and called it bedroom-menu.xml for instance. The property in the file then looks like: "nielm/main_menu_xml_file=C\:\\Program Files\\SageTV\\SageTV\\bedroom-menu.xml". Once that was done I plug the MVP back in and let the dynamic menus load from the new xml file. Now when I add a screen in the MVP I use the remote and enter something like 55555 for the name of the menu item. Then I save the menu from the MVP. Then I edit the bedroom-menu.xml file on the SageTV server in notepad and search for 55555 and replace it with the text I want to show up on the menu. Then I go back to the MVP client and re-read the menu file and my new menu item has the name I wanted. The only time I actually had to restart the MVP was after editing the properties file to rename the dynamic menu XML file.

All you have to do is.
Load the STV from the server that has all the mods installed. Click the Yellow button, now you are in Niel's menu as you normally would be. |
