Favorites recording anomalies

I've got some strange issues with SageTV.

First example:
I had these favorites coming up:
21:00 - 22:30 Show A, highest prio, no reruns
22:00 - 23:00 Show B, mid prio, 5 min stop padding, no reruns
23:00 - 23:55 Show C, low prio, a rerun from an earlier airing that was not recorded.

SageTV decided to:
Record Show A, It did not record any part of Show B, fine with that. But then the strange part; it recorded Show C, starting at 23:05 !! Obviously five minutes late!

How come?? Show B was not recorded, why let its padding interfere with Show C?

Second example:
I had these favorites coming up:

21:00 - 21:15 Show A, lowest prio, no reruns.
21:30 - 22:00 Show B, mid prio, rerun at later a time available
21:00 - 22:00 Show C, high prio, rerun at a later time available

SageTV decided to:
Record Show A. Nothing else. Why did it not record Show B? It did record the rerun instead, but why not this one? Was it because Show C has higher priority?
I noticed that when adding a manual recording interfering with the Show B rerun, SageTV found no other way but to record Show B at 21:30 above. Why does not SageTV try to record the first airing possible of a show?

I only have one tuner.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

I have noticed that, too. Espcecially with shows that have immediate reruns. Typically that doesn't bother me. You can force recording of a specific airing, if you want to.

I have two tuners, about 50 favorites, and IR is also enabled. I can see that at times figuring out what to record can be a complex operation...

I've noticed similar "favorites anomalies" such as recordings starting 5 minutes late for no apparent reason, as well as something you didn't mention--the Keep At Most (KAM) function being ignored. I have tons of examples of KAM=1 where there are 2 or 3 recordings kept. I have the delete set for manual, so they won't be deleted to make room for shows I DO want to see. I ended up missing several shows.
Overall, I haven't been impressed with the latest Sage 4.1--especially the fact that I lost support for my favorite STV (Cayars). Right now, I'm just barely tolerating a few real annoyances like crashes, "favorites anomalies," lack of good STVs, etc. If something doesn't improve soon, I'm going back to version 2.2.
