ir blaster, comcast digital cable

welp im coming close to moving to digital cable, but im not sure yet. one question i have is how does the ir-blaster, usb-iurt thing work?


after snooping around the only thing i can think of is it learns the codes of the set-top box, thus telling it to change channels when sage changes channels either by local input or the ir-blaster remote tells it so, thus allowing input for sage to be recorded... correct me if im wrong please!


but heres my concern, i have never had digital cable... so do i need two cable boxes ? on for each tuner card (i have two)? and in theroy then i would need 3 to include the tv in the bedroom?

another question, i have two diffeent tuners, a 550-ati and a conextant winfast card... if i get rid of the old winfast card and get another 500 will they live in the same system and sage not change "both" cards channels?


im not a tech noob, but still a sage/prv noob! any help would be great...
