SageTV T9 Input Available?

Can SageTV do T9 type of input?

By T9, I mean similar to what cell phones have that you type the word in a number keypad and it figures out the word automatically.

Here is some info about T9 for those interested: http://www.t9.com/t9_learnhow.html

SageTV has a form of text entry from numbers... see the options for Numeric Text Input Settings, starting on p. 184 in the v4.1 manual.

Yes, exactly, but it does NOT have T9 input. T9 guesses the word you are trying to type. If you ever text message someone on your cell phone, you would know what I mean.

Yes, I know what you mean -- I just pointed out what it does have in case you hadn't seen that. It obviously doesn't have predictive text input, since that isn't listed.

T9 input

While it is not supported, I have to admit, that would be an interesting option. I am guessing more of a plugin with an stv rather than a regular feature of Sage though.

Using a 'classic' T9 dictionary probably will not work too well, as peoples names will not be in the dictionary...

T9 input

What about using the file for the channel guide as the dictionary? I would think that would work ok, if there were certain key words that were ignored, like a, the, as... etc...
