System commands or Keyboard: Remote

I am using HIP with the new MCE remote. (By the way HIP is amazing at getting the remote working and automatically recognizes SageTV)

The only problem I am having is with responsivness. Sometimes, i will have to hit the FF button several times to get it to work, or pause serveral times. Other times it will be zippy and respond as it should. I think the problem is that HIP is currently setup to send messages to sageTV on button press which might get delayed especially under heavy load.

Would it better (more responsive) to have HIP send keyboard keystrokes instead of messages to the SageTV app?



On a side note, When setting up a favorite, under the channels option mine only lists the channels by name and not by number. For example, here my FOX is actually WKXF. I would much rather see "4 WKXF". Any way to change this?

On your first question, I am using an Girder configuration similar to that, and it uses the sendMessage interface with no problems or missed keys. You might want to see if the folks involved with HIP can help.

On the channel list for where to record a favorite from, I agree. I remember that channel 8 is FOX for me, but it would be nice to have the actual channel name in that dialog. I have not heard of a way to do this currently.

Hey thanks. My only guess is that it is some process delay between HIP and Sage. I used to use an Aver Media tuner and that remote was just fine. *(Ditched the aver media card due to horrid tinny audio)*.

but on a side note, think keyboard would be less load on the cpu?
