USB-UIRT IR interface?
Does SageTV include support on Linux for the USB-UIRT interface?
Both as a transmitter and a recv.? Thanks. (PS, I assume maybe my last 3 threads could go in the FAQs, once answered?) Phil

I think I answered my own question from another thread where it was buried:
Quoted: Here is what you are talking about on the USB-UIRT forumns that talks about how to get it working in gentoo linux. http://65.36.202.170/phpBB2/viewtopi...b04bda87c4bbf8 and transmitting http://www.usbuirt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=4163#4163 I think its best to wait for SageTV to get USB-UIRT support bundled into the product directly before an upgrade is in order.

The USB-UIRT is unreliable on Linux in our testing. It tends to fail a lot (as well as any device using LIRC for transmit) if the system is under any kind of load. At this point I only recommend using the PVR-150 IR transmitter for blasting on Linux. The problem has to do with the architecture of the LIRC drivers; it doesn't have to do with the hardware itself.

Is it only unstable on transmit? I was hoping to use for recv. only. If its bad all around I can wait to do a Linux upgrade till after the problems have been worked out with the drivers.
I use a Sony LocalFree player on SageTV. I have the IR blaster of the Sony device taped to the USB-UIRTs window. Then, I use a Tivo remote mapping on the Sony device to send commands to the USB-UIRT. Esentially it allows me to watch SageTV from anywhere in the world and even change channels. I dont want to lose this on the Linux upgrade which I am dying to do. So far I am seeing the following problems: - No firefly support (not your fault, but its a fault) - USB-UIRT compatibility

You can use it as an IR receiver; but we don't directly support that at this time so you'll be on your own. You'll need to install lirc and then configure it for your remote to use keyboard mappings. Then those keyboard mappings will control SageTV.

Jeff, do you have plans on making it more seamless in a future Linux release? I would assume you most likely would as its core functionality on the windows release?
If so, I will wait. Thanks.
