SageTV Installation problem: Administrator vs. other user accounts

I have accounts set up on the PC for each person in the family (WinXP Home). I installed SageTV using my account which has administrator rights. I set the video storage directory in the root of C where any user can get to it. SageTV runs great as a service, and the UI runs fine when I'm logged in as me.

But when someone else logs in as themselves, SageTV will open and immediately freeze (usually with a black screen). I thought it might be a file permissions issue, so I temporarily gave administrator rights to the other users. SageTV behaves the same - freeze upon open. No error message appears, and background recording by the service continues.

Are there any guidelines about how to run SageTV on a machine with multiple user accounts? Is there somewhere I should look for an error message that might be helpful (a log file or some such?) Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Larry

I don't know much (that should probably be my by line). That said, I also had problems with Sage and multiple users...the "fix" was to make sure each user had a password. My multi user probelms were different than yours though...I couldn't get the service to work at all until I made this change.

I had the same problem. I just installed again from the other account. Both accounts had administrator privileges.

Generally you only want one account on an HTPC to avoid logon issues. If there's a power failure, you'll not be recording anything.

The "HTPC server" is in the attic, close to the antenna for better reception. It only has one account and auto logon is configured.

I have the client installed on several computers and that is where I was having the problem.
