need help installing new tuner card (WinTV 150)

Thanks for any help, I am not very savvy with this tech. I have been using SageTV with an OEM Hauppauge tuner that sage recognized as 88xx, but actually has a 28xxx model #. Unhappy with it's issues (all my recordings are about 10% slower than real time, and if I try to burn them to DVD, sound stays 10% slow, but video does not, so they are completely unsynced), I just purchased a Hauppauge 150 from SageTV. However, whether I install the new card alone or with the old, sage does not see it. (Alone, sage opens with "Please select the video capture device listed below that you wish to configure at this time. ...", but no choices are listed. By the way, I am running windows XP MCE.

Thanks,
Craig

What version of SageTV are you using?

Check the properties file for a mmc/ignore_encoders property... if the card is listed there, delete that line while SageTV or the service isn't running, then restart SageTV.

thanks, but ...

The only thing listed in my mmc/ignore_encoders was my realtek audio device. removing the line didn't change anything. I can get picture from the card in WinTV2000, but no listing in sage.

I am running SAGE version 2.0 because later versions corrupted my picture. Is there something I need to install? In my device manager, there are 5 listing for the 88x card (Hauppauge WinTV 88x (unused function), Hauppauge WinTV 88x Crossbar, Hauppauge WinTV 88x MPEG encoder, Hauppauge WinTV 88x Tuner, Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video(MPEG+Front)), but only one for the new 150 card (Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx)).

What do you mean by the service?

Thanks,
Craig

Support for the Hauppauge 150 was added after v2.0, so you would need to use a later version of the software.
